VK Partizan - VK Mladost 10:8 (Triglav League)

Goalkeeper Rističević was the hero of the day. Right at the beginning he had a huge save while the opponent team was in power play. Right after this Subotić scored Partizan’s first goal (1:0). Our defense line was very strong and it says all that Mladost’s first (and equalizing) goal was a terrible, weak shot, soon before the end. No one knows why the referees validated it. (1:1)

The ball was floating on the surface of the water rolling around, crossing the goal line while sailing on the waves. Everyone was screaming and waving, the referee whistled and pointed at the middle of the pool. Thanks.

As an answer, Mandić made a giant block while defending a Croatian try, may his hands be engilt, and we could start a counter-attack. Stojanović scored, we were on the lead (2:1). As the final scene of the period, Rističević again had a wonderful save.
In the second quarter Croatian team quickly equalized (2:2) and they seemed to decide to take control of the match. They took control so much that Gilen tore the net to pieces (3:2). Mladost equalized from power play (3:3), Stojanović again took the lead with a distant shot (4:3). Rističević again saved the unsaveable, Mladost kept us under continuous control, but Rističević saved.
And saved.
And again saved.

I want you all to make a statue of him. Now. And put it to the entrance of the Banjica sports complex.

At the beginning of the second half Mladost again equalized (4:4), then... then we got into a triple "man down" situation. Three players were sent off from us, Mladost was in an absolute power play. I swear I don’t know how it could all happen, referees were just whistle and wave, there was a big upheaval and wrestling in front of our goal line...
...AND RISTIČEVIĆ SAVED!!!
HE SAVED IN TRIPLE MAN-DOWN POWER PLAY!!!
It was unbelievable, seriously.
Meanwhile Gogov was fouled out and Croats tried to score to Rističević from a few centimetres. But at this match nobody could score to Rističević, not even the Almighty Heavenly Father. Rističević saved in triple man-down power play, after this a try from a few centimetres was almost an offense for him.
Then Jakšić scored the biggest troll goal I’ve ever seen. He grabbed the ball and shot it with a twist in his wrist, as if he would be playing ducks and drakes. The ball was dropping on the surface, Mladost’s goalkeeper was sinking with a desperate expression on his face and the ball rolled into the net. (5:4)
Then the opponent equalized again (5:5), but only to give a chance to Manojlović to take us on the lead again. It was awesome, Manojlović was wrestling with an XXL-sized Croatian player in front of the goalmouth. The opponent player was about to drown Manojlović into the water, when the ball dropped next to Partizan’s player. All you could see was a hand appearing from underneath the Croatian player. It grabbed the ball and dropped it into the net. The standing was 6:5.
You get what I mean. Manojlović can score even while being half-drowned. The Croatian player, who was wrestling with him, just looked at the ball in the corner of the net with a confused face.
Then Subotić took advantage of the shock and quickly scored another (7:5). He shot somewhere from the half-line, raising up from the water waist-high and sent a bomber into Mladost’s net. Croatian team reduced the difference about 3 seconds before the end (7:6), but we were still on the lead.
In the last quarter Jakšić came, saw and scored a giant goal (8:6), while Rističević saved with a grin on his face. Mladost players picked themselves together and equalized, but they couldn’t stand against the Steam Roller, however much they tried. Stojanović set back World Peace (9:8), and finally the dot was put to "i" by Mandić (10:8) 11 seconds before the end.

Friendly veterans' match: Videoton - Partizan 2:5

Why have I heard about it only now?...
Not as if I could have travelled to Székesfehérvár, but still.

At the end of last year Hungarian football club Videoton organized an indoor football cup series for veterans. For this latest competition they invited the veterans of Partizan and Železničar to remember the 1984/85 UEFA Cup series, when they won over both teams and ended up in the cup final (where they were beaten by Real Madrid to 3:1).

The mean kibitzer is speaking from me now: that was the last mentionable year for Videoton in any European cup series.

I raise my (non-existing) hat for Videoton, they were excellent hosts for Partizan. Everyone who played 30 years ago took part in it.

Not everyone. Dragan Mance is not among us anymore... so is Lajos Májer, who passed away in 1998 in a car accident.

They had dinner at local Vadászkürt restaurant, visited Videoton Museum, placed a wreath on the grave of Lajos Májer and finished the program at Pokol Pince restaurant.
Then they all ran out to the ground and played Videoton off to 2:5.
Videoton had their all former legends. Csuhay, the Disztl-brothers, Győző Burcsa, Vadász, Novath, Gábor Horváth, Csongrádi as well as József Szabó. In Partizan's team there were Nebojša Vučićević, Dragi Kaličanin, Dragan Tomić, Radivoje Branković, Željko Budiša, Radovan Marić and Čedomir Knežević playing. Goals were scored by Vučićević and Marić, 3 and 2 goals respectively. From Videoton's team Szabó and Csongrádi scored.

There are photos as well as a video.

OK Crvena Zvezda - OK Partizan 1:3

Victory at the eternal derby, still being undefeated in the championship.
All these after the first match of 2015.
Do we need more?...
On the top of it all, Nikola Mijailović returned at this match after more than 6 months.
We walked out to the ground and ate the reds. We made it to 7:14 in the first set, then the opponent picked themselves together and reduced the difference to 18:20 - but we were still on the lead. What is more, with Jokanović in command we pushed it up to 24:19, then finally Nemanja Jokanović (mentioned earlier) brought the match-point and we won the first game to 25:19. (0:1)
In the beginning of the second we made it to 4:9, but Zvezda could somehow find the pace and even turned the standing to 20:19. Their advantage didn’t last long, Lopar switched the standing back to our side (21:22) and we eventually won the second game to 25:22. (0:2)
For the third the red team again picked themselves together and took the lead to 8:3. This 8:3 later became 12:6 and they won the set to 25:19. (1:2)
They got a chance from us to find their breath.
You get what I mean. At this set we showed how NOT to play volleyball.
So, in the fourth we could show how to actually play it.
Because we took a deep breath and the standing was 5:16. Our advantage was three times ahead of the red team’s (and even more with one point). There was no return. We broke the rest of the red team’s self-esteem, winning the set to 10:25 as well as winning the eternal derby to 1:3.

I’d like to take the opportunity here to suggest RTS to make RTS 2 available at their site beside RTS Satelit. Thank you.

KK Partizan - Cedevita 76:64 (Adriatic League)

"Derby match".
You get what I mean.
At this "derby match" we started with a 12:0 series. Pavlović heated up the Steam Roller right at the beginning, there was no return.

(photo: abaliga.com)

Today’s online stream was one of the worst kinds, and I didn’t find any better all over the internet. All of them lagged, making the stream unwatchable. Thankfully Adriatic League has this kind habit to upload all the matches to Youtube in full time. Until then I try to re-enact the game.

So, it took more than 7 minutes for Cedevita to score 1 (one) point. There were less than 3 minutes to go when they could pass the ball through the ring after getting a free throw. (The second attempt was unsuccessful.) Mačvan and Dallo did a great teamwork, Dallo threw the ball to the basket from behind the 3-pointer line, but missed it. Mačvan, Partizan’s official troll was sneaking under the backboard, made a fantastic rebound and scored with a wide grin on his face, right at the buzz. 14:1
Cedevita picked themselves together a bit (16:7 was the result at the end of the quarter) and tried to keep up this pace for the next period. In reality the two teams were wrestling for 2 minutes without much result (17:12), then Partizan thought it was enough. Gagić was the first in line with a free throw (19:12), then Andrić celebrated his birthday with a 3-pointer (24:14). Our advantage was still two-digit (28:18), Andrić brought another 3-pointer - birthdays happen only once a year, so you have to do it in style... (31:20).

I think, this was the point when Mačvan walked off the ground with painful face, holding his right shoulder.

Our pace didn’t slow down despite all.

The half-time result was 39:26 and Mačvan resurrected for the second half.

I swear, at the beginning of the third period I saw the counter displaying 42:24, but after an upheaval there were only 41 points at our side. (I very much hope Adriatic League uploads this match as soon as possible. I have no idea what happened here, stream was lagging very heavily.)

All in all, the standing was 41:28, most probably it didn’t bring any comfort to Cedevita that a point was taken from us. We quickly made up our lost ground (43:28) with Bogdanović adding a 3-pointer (46:28). Another upheaval came, players were wrestling under Cedevita’s backboard, then Gagić got a technical foul.

Gagić disagreed

The standing was then 46:31, it seemed Cedevita might speed up (46:34, then 46:36), but Dallo stopped them (48:36), then Pavlović quickly made it to 53:40. Then 55:42, finally Milutinović set the result of the third quarter (60:42).

In the final one Cedevita reduced the difference to 60:48, but we made ourselves comfortable with two 3-pointers (66:52). Dallo helped to make it even higher (68:54, then 70:54), Milosavljević scored a 3-pointer (74:60), and our last basket was thrown by Milutinović (76:62). The very last score was done by Cedevita but even that didn’t save them from the two-digit difference. 76:64

Highlights - as soon as the entire match is uploaded, I’ll post that, too.

Until then victory photos.

News from football fields and basketball grounds

Fofana might leave ul. Humska. News, that are not confirmed yet, talk about a Chinese football team that is interested in the Ivory Coast player. Rumours say, Fofana might get to them on loan, but if he is confident enough, Partizan might sell him.

I hope I’m not right, but this waste of such a talented player will strike back.

The new presidency has just been elected, but president Zoran Popović has already experienced disagreements with Ljubiša Tumbaković and Dragan Ćirić. The reason is Marko Nikolić, whether he stays or gets discharged. Newssite blic.rs says the Tumbaković-Ćirić duo is forcing to sign Ivan Tomić to Partizan’s bench, while the president stood up for Marko Nikolić. Some say, it is especially tragic because during the presidency election Marko Nikolić was lobbying for Tumbaković.

***

Milenko Tepić won’t be able to play tomorrow against Cedevita. Thank God his injury is not that serious, he really had just a brutal muscle spasm. Yet the problem is that there’s no substitue for him. Additionally, tomorrow’s match is crucial whether Partizan can qualify to the play-offs of Adriatic League.
Note: Partizan plays with Cedevita tomorrow at 17:00. SportKlub 1 broadcasts it live.

Photo of the day - New Year

Nikola Milutinov and Boris Dallo celebrating New Year

(photo: Twitter)

New Year news highlights

The football team's leadership has a new target, namely Mijat Gaćinović. It isn’t the first time Vojvodina’s player is tempted to come to Belgrade, but this time the presidency made a firm decision to get the young player. Some say, he is among the top targets the leadership wants to get during the winter break.
So far nobody confirmed the news.

***

The football team’s leadership confirmed Marko Nikolić would stay as Partizan’s head coach. They also confirmed Petar Škuletić got a "tempting offer" from Lille, but the leadership unanimously rejected the offer. They said, even though the team’s financial situation is more than difficult, they still prefer to build a strong basis for the team.

You can vote here at mozzartsport.com about the best moments of the year.

***

It very much seems so, Milenko Tepić got only a brutal cramp at the last training. It’s still a question whether he can play against Cedevita.

Mozzartsport.com published a list here and here about the basketball team’s highlights. The first list consists of photos only, the second includes videos
