Mladost - FK Partizan 1:2 (Jelen SuperLiga Round 8)

In the very beginning it was clear that the players of Mladost prefer to kick into the opponent instead of the ball. The 5th minute brought the first chance. Lazović passed to Škuletić, he dribbled himself through the defense line and shot, but goalkeeper Krznarić saved. Then Lukač also needed to do some excersises in the 7th minute after a free kick.
In the 10th minute Marković made a shot from distance, the ball just barely missed the net. It was still good for a corner (first corner of the match) which was punched out by the goalkeeper.
A minute later Lazović got a yellow card. ArenaSport replayed the scene a couple of times in slow motion, Partizan’s striker was wrestling with a defender of Mladost. The home player was tousling Lazović’s jersey, yet the Partizan attacker got finally the yellow card.

As a matter of fact, the referee didn’t seem to like Partizan too much.

In the 13th minute Grbić ran up dribbling through the home team’s half. He got into the penalty area and passed to Marković, but his kick was too high and flew out of the field.
And this was the moment when the broadcast broke down. For 5-6 minutes we could see only ArenaSport’s logo on the screen. (Upon Partizan’s textual report, we missed only a free kick by Lazović.)
Live picture returned in the 19th minute, Mladost was trying with a weak action. They could barely get to Partizan’s goal line, but even then Lukač didn’t have to interrupt.
In the 21st minute a defender of the opponent, Milunović pushed his elbow brutally into Lazović’s backbone. Partizan’s striker fell onto the ground holding his back with a painful face.

But being a great hero, he returned to the field after a few minutes.
The 23rd minute brought two attacks. First was by Mladost breaking in on Partizan’s goal. A dangerous shot came from right, but Lukač was at his place.

Then came a counter-attack, Pantić ran up, but his shot flew out near the goalpost.
Five minutes passed, when Marković had a kick on Mladost’s goal, then Škuletić was kicked on the ground, about 4-5 metres from the penalty area. Lazović stood behind the ball, he kicked it towards the goal line, but the home team’s goalkeeper caught it.
A minute later he and Milosavljević were pushing each other, Mladost player earned a yellow card from the referee.

Then all that was going on the field reminded of mud wrestling rather than football. Mladost players were very rough, having too many fouls, the game was fragmented. Mladost striker Friday made several unpleasant moments, but the Nigerian player was always stopped by Ćirković.

The 35th minute brought a chance, Mladost attacked, but the player who was about to get the ball and shoot it on Partizan’s goal was on an at least 1-meter offside.
Then the only excitement was to find out how long the extra time will be at the end of the first half.
Well, an unsuspicious viewer would have surely thought that.
We were after the 45th minute (teams got 1 minute overtime) when Saša Marković got the ball and ran up on the left. He dribbled and passed it to Vulićević, who was at the other side of the field. He passed it to the middle, right in front of the goal line. Two Partizan-players jumped up, and the winner was Petar Škuletić, who headed the ball into the net. 0:1

Fans had a great time.

"69 years of pain and joy"

Wrestling was going on in the 2nd half as well. The referee was watching it with enjoyment, while everyone forgot about the ball. Finally in the 50th minute Grbić had a great run up to the penalty area. He passed the ball to Pantic from the right. Pantić passed it ahead with an oxford, but finally it ended as a corner.

Mladost kept on trying, without much success. Partizan’s defenders always blocked their attacks, Lukač was needed only at goal-kicks.

Sometimes fighting and wrestling were interrupted by some football. In the 57th minute Milosavljević sent a dangerous kick to Partizan’s goal line from 20 metres, but it was too high. Then in the 58th minute Lazović got fed up with all this screwing around. A pass was coming to Mladost’s penalty area, a defender wanted to kick it out. The ball dropped just in front of Partizan’s striker, he shot and the net was in pieces. 0:2

Saša Ilić arrived as substitute in the 60th minute. The reason to mention it was that in the moment his feet touched the field, Partizan fans immediately started to chant "Jedan je Ilić kapiten".

The 64th minute brought a great chance to Partizan. Škuletić got the ball from Branko Ilić, he made a turn shaking off a defender hanging on him and shot from 16 metres - into the goalkeeper.

Match action: Branko Ilić did a great job

Mladost tried with a distant shot in the 68th minute. Lukač pushed it above the goalpost, the referee waved for corner. There was a small chaos inside Partizan’s penalty area, finally the ball hit the goalpost with a big noise.
After this Mladost kept the ball a bit more than Partizan, yet the game was still fragmented, with too many fouls.
Mladost got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Adamović sent it in front of Partizan’s goal, Friday rose up high from the mass and headed it to Partizan’s net. 1:2
Partizan tried to find a chance in the 75th minute, but it ended as a counter-attack by Mladost, Gavrić barely missed it.
In the 80th minute the home team tried again. Volkov was wrestling with one of them inside the penalty area, then Friday got the ball. The Nigerian shot, and Lukač made one of the biggest saves ever.
It’s a must-see.

The rest of the game was almost only wrestling. Yet I must mention, in the 91st minute Kojić joined the team as substitute for Lazović. It was a moment that has been waited for long ago, that Kojić finally returns after his injury at a league match.

Then it was time to celebrate.

* - teams played only 7 matches

Not too happy news is that UEFA put Partizan under sanction for the anti-semitistic banner at the match against Tottenham. Partizan must pay 40 000 euros to UEFA, plus at their upcoming home match in Europa League the whole southern sector must be closed.
