Obligatory victory with the substitute team on a Tuesday afternoon training game.
The first memorable moment of the first half was in the 24th minute with a counter-attack by Žarkovo. Guzina ran up and crossed to the middle, Čudić was about to receive it, but the cross was a bit too long it ended with goal-kick.
Partizan was doing fine. Yes, we possessed the ball more, yes, we forced Žarkovo to play bunker football for most of the time. And yes, we had attempts. But either the goalkeeper saved or the defenders blocked us and in fact none of them were too spectacular. There was no pace and even less excitement (during the first half I blanked a rewritable CD, burned an ISO-file on it and still nothing happened on the pitch). We were passing the ball around and the whole picture of the game was totally dull including players.
The next memorable moment was when Vulićević got injured around the 30th minute and Milan Radin could debute.

Then we continued to pass around the penalty area. Sometimes we had a not too determined shot, but none of them were on target. Nothing else happened. In the 38th minute Jevtović thought to speed things up, he ran up on the right side, crossed, but Đurđić was too much behind. Then Mihajlović shot at the end of an attempt, it was too high.
We took the lead in the beginning of the second half. Bojinov, who functioned mostly as a success experience for Žarkovo-defenders in the first half (i.e. Žarkovo’s defenders could see that even a League 3 player can run off or tackle a Partizan-striker), so, Bojinov was especially lucky, because after a cross Đurđić forwarded the ball to him, the Sloth was at the right time at the right place and he succeeded not to shoot the ball out of the pitch from 3 stepts as he usually does, but instead he could force it into the box. 0:1 (Then he got a yellow card, because he made obscene gestures to Žarkovo’s fans. Very well, very well. Not just sluggish, but also a yokel. Bravo.)
Then... We were still around the penalty area, passing around, trying, but we could never finish any action. As if nobody had enough courage to shoot.
Yea. We had to sell out Kojić, Škuletić, Lazović, Šaponjić, Andrija Živković... shall I go on with the names? That’s what happens when a talentless, moron sports director signs players whose expiration date has passed long ago.
In the 69th minute Guzina shot too high after a throw-in. Then he tried again, attacked, the substitute’s substitute goalkeeper Stevanović (who was tolled from Čukarički to here, this was his first time in the starting eleven, right?...) ran out of the goalmouth and saved.
Then in the 71st minute Bojinov made a miracle. He scored another goal. Mihajlović crossed from the left, Bojinov made a fly-kick from a sharp angle and could kick the ball into the box. Sometimes he does surprise me by doing things that remind of football.
Žarkov had one more big chance in the 81st minute after a corner-kick. Guzina headed it, it was too wide, then in the 85th mintue Mihajlović shot from the distance, it was also too wide. Radin had one more try in the extra time (90+2.), too high, then the referee made our sufferings an end.

I’ll be honest: it’s a hell of a work to be enthusiastic about a team, where you could punch half the squad right in the face, because they don’t deserve to wear Partizan’s jersey. (Because they are talentless, soulless, second-rate players, just right now they are lucky or it’s merely by circumstances - whichever it may be, they will be men of no account anyway.) So, 4:0 this or that, I’m not dancing around from joy.
Those who regularly read this blog, know which player(s) I’m talking about. Those who don’t... well, never mind.
The game started with a small celebration. Branko Vućićević, Partizan’s treasurer will get retired on 1st September, the club said farewell to him now.
Afterwards it seemed this time the "full court press in the first 20 minutes"-tactics will bring their reward. Our first attempt came in the 3rd minute - the ball was crossed from left, Bojinov headed it, "zicer", 1:0.
The next attempt came around the 23rd minute. In between the two teams were running around, it seemed Rad attacked a little bit more, but there were no actual attempts on either sides. Even at this point the game was tensed, players kicked into each other a lot. Everton got a yellow card already in the 18th minute.
At games like this Everton reveals his jerk side (as well as how useless he can be). While Leonardo is totally neurotic who yells more than actually playing football.
Then in the 23rd minute, at our second attempt came another "zicer". Corner kick, Milenković headed it, 2:0.
In the 32nd minute hell broke loose. Leonardo got the ball at Rad’s penalty area line, he wanted to attack, but clashed with a Rad-defender inside the penalty area. The referee didn’t whistle for penalty kick.
ArenaSport replayed it in slow motion at least 4 times from more angles, from frame to frame. Honestly, even I couldn’t say whether it was really a penalty or not. From one angle it seemed that the defender stopped Leonardo with a bodycheck, so it was an offensive foul. From another it seemed that Leonardo ran into the innocent defender and fell on the ground. The devil is always in the details...
To cut it short, referee Simović did not point at the penalty mark, but waved "go ahead". Yet the game did not go ahead, because everyone started to yell. Partizan-players complained for penalty kick, surrounding the referee, later the 4th official as well.

Then Marko Nikolić also joined the discussion, and that was a big mistake. There’s no info about what he said to the referee (or what he didn’t), nevertheless the referee showed him the red card. Marko Nikolić had to leave the pitch.
Other than these there were two free kick, one for us in the 40th minute, one for Rad in the 43rd. Both missed. There were two nervous, tensed teams as well, kicking mostly each other instead of the ball.
Rad’s goalkeeper had his first actual save in the second half, when Bojinov shot in the 47th minute. (It was far not that dangerous though.) A minute later Bates was excluded from the game, after kicking off Everton. He already had a yellow card, he got his second one and had to leave the pitch. Free kick for Partizan. Leonardo stood behind the ball, he shot, the goalkeeper was just watching in amazement, 3:0.
Then in the 50th minute Uroš Đurđević (signed just a few days ago) debuted, substituting Bojinov.
At his first touch with the ball he ran up, shot, but the goalkeeper saved.
Rad’s biggest chance came - and was missed out - in the 55th minute.
Other than this they didn’t actually have any other chance...
Mladenović got a great pass, ran up, leaving Partizan-defenders behind. He arrived at our penalty area all alone, all doors and windows were wide open, Mladenović shot... and missed. It was too wide with just a few centimetres. Then Đurđević had two attempts, but the goalkeeper saved them.
I don’t say we played well, but at least we did it now without that nerve-racking minimalist style we practiced at the previous games. The match was tensed, nervous, maybe that’s why there was not that much idle time. We attacked, Rad got stuck at their penalty area for a while.
It was already the 79th minute, Partizan got 4 corner kicks in a row. Finally, after the 4th the ball was dropping around the penalty area like a pinball, then it dropped into the box from Radović. Literally. One very awkward goal. But it was inside the box. 4:0
Rad had one more very weak try in the 85th minute, then Stevanović shot once in the 88th, but it was too wide.

The match had a heavy start, Vojvodina got a free kick already in the 3rd minute, about 18 metres from the box. The shoot was too wide. Two minutes later they got another free kick. The cross arrived from the left, but the referee whistled it off, as one of our defenders was pushed down to the ground.
Then came the 6th minute. We got a corner kick, Mihajlović kicked it to the goalmouth, where Milenković raised up and headed it into the net with a classic movement. 1:0!

Both teams attacked and ran a lot, there could be no complain for the pace. Vojvodina started an attack right after the kick-off. A cross came from the right, Meleg shot it to the box, missing it just with a few centimetres. In the 13th minute Saša Ilić ran up on the right with the ball and crossed it to Bojinov in the middle.
Seriously I haven’t seen such fumbling in my life as that was presented by Bojinov here. (Or if I still have, it was very long ago.) All doors and windows were wide open, but he could still fumble it away. You can watch it in the highlights at the end of the blogpost from 1:40, but only for those with strong nerves. (I warned you.)
In the 15th minute Vojvodina got another free kick, 20-22 metres from the box. Meleg shot, Kljajić had a fantastic, spectacular save.
Meanwhile on the southern tribunes fans made an amazing demonstration. They hung a rope across the tribune and hung all those T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoods they stole/robbed/tore off from Crvena Zvezda-fans. There were those with CZ-logos, Delije Sever-logos, even with Olympiakos-logos. Then they ritually burned these (often terribly dirty) clothes to ashes, while chanting tongue-in-cheek, vulgar rhymes.

In the 18th minute Brašanac got the ball after a free kick. He shot it to the box, it was too high. It was his turn again in the 22nd minute. He ran up, dribbled, then shot, but it wasn’t powerful enough to land in the net. The goalkeeper caught it.

After this Vojvodina made an immediate counter-attack. Bogosavac stopped them in the last minute, making the attempt end in a corner kick. In the 25th minute another Vojvodina-attack arrived from the right. Rosić (if I could see his shirt number well) crossed to the middle, someone headed it to the box, barely missing it.
A minute later Mihajlović arrived at Vojvodina’s penalty area from the left. He dribbled himself to the middle, then shot and scored, like it’s written in the Big Book of Football. 2:0!

The 29th minute brought another of Bojinov’s great (?) moments. Mihajlović crossed to the middle, Bojinov attacked, he even shot, right into the goalkeeper.
Vojvodina’s first goal came in the 32nd minute, after an embarrassing ball-losing by Partizan. Meleg was right there, he grabbed the ball, ran up and shot it into the box next to Kljajić, who ran out of the goalmouth. 2:1
Two minutes later Nastić had a shot from the left, Kljajić had a great save.
This was the point when I realized there was a relatively peaceful atmosphere on the pitch (despite the usual fouls that always happen on football games). No fights, no yelling, no pushing each other around, yet there are goals, attempts, pace, like on an average football match. Oh, wait. Everton didn’t play today, so there was no one to pick up useless fights with the opponent.
In the 38th minute we made Vojvodina stuck a bit into their penalty area. We passed the ball around, finally Mihajlović shot from the left, onto the side net.
The last minute brought another dangerous-looking action - well, it would have been dangerous if the ball hadn’t ended at Bojinov. Golubović passed it to the middle, but I have no idea what was going on with the Bulgarian, whether he fumbled it away again, or - AGAIN!!! - he was slower than a snail, nevertheless a defender from the guests tackled him easily.

The pace slowed down for the second half. The first actual attempt came in the 53rd minute. Lukić ran up in the middle, then passed it to Saša Ilić. The Captain passed back to him. Lukić wanted to shoot, but he kicked the air instead of the ball.
We were leading to 3:1 in the 61st minute with an own goal that literally ached. Rosić wanted to block one of our attacks, but either the ball hit him and flew away in the most possible twisted way, or he kicked the ball into the worst direction, nevertheless instead of the (probably original idea) kick-out/downfield kick the ball flew into the middle of the net with such a fantastic arch you can barely see even at action goals. The goalkeeper desperately ran back to the box, but it was impossible to save this, even if he had stood on the goal line. 3:1
Deep inside I felt for Rosić. It could be a terrible feeling.
In the 65th minute Jovičić sent a distant shot to our box after a free kick, it was too wide. Then in the 73rd minute it was already 3:2. Meleg got a pass in the middle and shot right there, from 20-22 metres. That’s what they call cannon shot.
Vojvodina sped up, they definitely wanted to equalize. In the 77th minute Vukčević (if I could see well) sent a distant cannon shot to our goal after a free kick, but instead of hitting it, he sent the ball out of the stadium. In the 82nd minute Vojvodina got another free kick. Now Meleg shot, Partizan-defenders cleared, though as I could see, it was very close. Another Vojvodina free kick came in the 85th minute, again by Meleg, it ended in a corner kick.

Vukčević sent another cannon shot to our box in the 90th minute, Kljajić saved. Finally, in the 93rd minute there was one free kick left for Vojvodina at our penalty area line, but it ended in the wall. This was the moment of the final whistle as well.

Eventually we made it to the 2nd place. Thanks to this and to our cup winning we can enter Europa League. Čukarički and Vojvodina will join us. What is already sure that we enter the Liga in the 2nd round of the qualifyings. The draw will be on 20th June.
As for the play-out: Jagodina is dropped out together with OFK Beograd that had a surprisingly terrible performance this season. Napredak and Bačka Palanka qualified from the prva liga, for the latter one this will be the first season in the superliga.
If I were for Iliev, I’d be careful with saying such things. Who knows, one day Čukarički might knock the door of ul. Humska 1 in the company of a Pini Zahavi-alike Croesus, throwing a suitcase on the table saying 'hey, here are the 10 milkos, now we'd take the kid, thxbai'. A message to Mihajlović: learn from the Živković-case, boy. If there’s anything nobody is interested in, that’s what you yourself would like to do.
Well, I will surely not cry after Bojinov. Leković hasn’t played enough to be able to say anything on him. The rest will be missed.
After all these the team surely prepared with joy and confidence against Čukarički.

10 minutes before kick-off

After the kick-off Čukarički immediately started to attack. It was clear they mean no-nonsense and they want our scalps. They attacked already in the 2nd minute. Pavlović got the ball, it was dangerous, but the referee whistled it off, because Pavlović pulled Milenković on the ground while attacking. Two minutes later they appeared again at our penalty area. A cross came from the right, Šaranov again caught butterflies
is it really necessary that he drops the ball at least once in every match, while the opponent is crowding with full force in the goalmouth?...
then for the next try he could catch it. We had great luck for not receiving a goal.
In the 5th minute Mihajlović was tricking with the ball on the left, then he shot, the goalkeeper saved. Two minutes later again he shot, now getting a pass to the left from Bojinov in the middle. His shot missed the box with just centimetres.
In the 8th minute a Čukarički-attack arrived from the right. Nikola Janković (if I’m not wrong) crossed it to the middle, from there Jovanović get it on the left. Jovanović shot, barely missing it.
In the 11th minute Čukarički got a free kick, almost at the baseline, with just 1-2 metres from the left side of the penalty area. The cross came, Đurić took it by the head, forwarding it to Branislav Janković. Janković shot fron only 2 steps and scored. 0:1

In the 16th minute again Branislav Janković got a huge pass. He ran up on the left, with Bandalovski behind him. He then shot, the ball hit Šaranov, ending the attempt in a corner-kick.
In the 20th minute Bandalovski possessed the ball on the right. He attacked the middle, then passed to Bojinov. Bojinov sped up, ran by the goalkeeper and shot into the box from a sharp angle. 1:1

In the 23rd minute we got a corner kick. There came the ball, making a big goalmouth scramble. Partizan-players all complained that someone from Čukarički played handball, but the referee didn’t whistle.
This scene has been cut from the superliga’s official highlights. On Youtube it’s available, here you can see it. ArenaSport’s slow motion replay clearly showed Čukarički’s player hitting the ball with his hand.
The atmosphere on the field became tensed. The pace was medium, yet Čukarički kept the ball surprisingly well.
In the 30th minute Milenković... well, there’s nothing to attenuate it. Milenković brutally kicked off Bojić, so heavily that Čukarički’s player had to come off the field. The referee showed the red card to Milenković.

In the 33rd minute Mihajlović ran up on the left. He made a great solo, dribbled then shot, it ended in a corner-kick.
In the 38th minute Nikola Janković kicked off Everton. The referee showed the red card him, too.

There was only one action left for the first half. Bogosavac got the ball on the left and shot from a sharp angle, the goalkeeper saved.
For the entire game Grave Diggers were chanting, firing up the southern tribune. Sometimes they made a much more spectacular sight than the often slow and struggling game.
Čukarički started the second half as well with attacking. A cross came from the left, Pavlović headed it to the box, but it was too high. A minute later Kosović passed the ball to Everton. The Brazilian shot from the right, it was also too high.
In the 49th minute we got a free kick at the left side of the penalty area line. Mihajlović passed it to Bogosavac, the young defender shot, it was too high.
In the 53rd minute Stevanović passed to Mihajlović in the middle. He immediately shot from approx. 16 metres, missing it with just centimetres again. In the 59th minute Saša Jovanović had a distant shot to our box, it was too high.
In the 65th minute Bojinov got a huge pass. After some goalmouth/penalty area scramble he shot from the left, barely missing it. A minute later Matić sent a flat, weak shot to our box, it was too wide. Another minute later Čukarički had another attempt, Šaranov saved.
In the 68th minute Bogosavac had another attempt. Mihajlović ran upfield, but he was tackled. The ball dropped to Bogosavac, but his shot was too wide.
In the 70th minute we got a free kick on the left side, 25 metres from the goal line. Mihajlović shot it right into the wall, but the ball dropped to Marko Jovanović. He shot, it was too high.
In the 76th minute Pavlović was wrestling with two Partizan-defenders, then he fell on the ground inside the penalty area. The referee didn’t whistle for penalty shot.
I have to mention nevertheless that Pavlović gave himself the starting kick with a fantastic Oxford-trick. Hats off, I have never seen anything like this yet.
In the 79th minute Brašanac passed the ball to Golubović on the right. He crossed it to the middle, the defenders headed it out. Corner-kick, again Golubović got the ball. He again crossed to the middle, but there Lukić kicked into the air instead of the ball.
In the upcoming minutes we constantly tried to attack, but they were all blocked by the defenders. Finally in the 85th minute Vlahović got a cross from the left, which he tried to head into the box. He wasn’t successful, the ball dropped to Lukić. He tried, too, without success.
In the 90th minute we got a corner-kick. Bandalovski headed it to the box, but the goalkeeper saved. Čukarički started a counter-attack. Knežević ran upfield on the right side and crossed to Pavlović in the middle. Pavlović thanked it and shot it ruthlessly into the box. 1:2
