I worked out a new strategy for Partizan-games. Whenever the team play, I search for a TV-broadcast that runs parallel with it (it can be anything, football, basketball, handball, waterpolo, ice hockey, Formula 1, athletics, even archery… no matter whether domestic or foreign, it can even be a rerun), because I really can’t take this shit anymore and life is too short to waste it for crappy football (or basketball or whatever).
I watched this rubbish labeled as basketball in such a way that the meantime I watched Ferencváros - Videoton on TV. Watching Marko Nikolić, Marko Šćepović and Danko Lazović on a derby is a must, I won’t miss it out, no way.
I didn’t regret it. It was a tough, combative and exciting game with lots of action. Lazović even scored a goal, but FTC was better, stronger and more aggressive, they deserved the victory. (3:1)
As for Partizan…
Whatever. Never mind.
The first quarter was a pure torment. In the second we took the lead a few times for 1-2 points, but none of these lasted long. The third one should is better to forget
I’m looking into my notes I made during the game, but all I see is Budućnost leading for the whole time, also “nothing extraordinary happening”
then came the fourth quarter.
Without this FTC - Videoton and Lazović’s goal I would have surely got a convulsion. Veličković missed out a chance from which even I would have scored
even though I’m small (less than 170 cm) and slow and the last time I had basketball in my hands was approx. 30 years ago
then, when Average Fan thinks this is the bottom line, Marinković misses out an even bigger chance.
Listen, my dearies.
Veličković, GO TO HELL, RETIRE RIGHT NOW, FOR FUCK’S SAKE!!! Dude, you make more harm to the team than well.
Marinković, my dear son, please, go abroad to play there. As soon as possible. Anywhere, to Italy, Germany, Russia, Turkey, Spain, Greece, it doesn’t matter. Just go and don’t stay, because here you’ll just regress.
The same goes for you, my dear Andrić.
And now I share with you the most memorable moment of the basketball game.
We won’t put this game on display for sure... A match we were about to win, but we let it out of our hands.
Though the atmosphere was excellent.
There were some old friends there.
Then jump ball, kickstart.
After 14 seconds Luković was fouled.
More than a minute passed when the first score arrived (0:3).
After one and a half minute came the first technical foul (for Budućnost).
Almost two minutes passed when we could equalize (3:3).
So, you get the point.
Then Vrabac got injured on his forehead after a clash. He got a quick first aid, from then on he played the whole game with bandage on his eyebrow. Hero.
Yet Budućnost was leading. Though I have to think hard to remember when we had such a struggling game. The standing was 5:10 in the middle of the quarter. We were out of order, so was the opponent. A terrible amount of missed out attempts on both sides. Two and a half minutes before the end it was 7:14. We narrowed the standing a bit for the end, but Average Fan could hear the noise of clenched teeth through the stream... The quarter finished with 11:18.

The second quarter was the sequel of the first in the beginning. Budućnost was slowly tearing us into tiny pieces... Then Novica Veličković took the team on his back and made a fantastic march. The standing was 13:27, we got a free throw, he scored. And then there was no stop. The others also got the gear (17:27 by Robinson, then later 21:30 by Luković) and we came up to 35:29!!!! Good Lord, it’s just IMPOSSIBLE what we did. We made a 22:2 series the Novi Beograd sports hall was about to explode.

6 seconds were left from the quarter, Budućnost got a free throw (35:30). Then Vrabac got the ball and he ran up, with bandage on his face and after a tremendous solo he made a BUZZER BEATER making it 37:30 for the half-time. This was one of Partizan’s greatest resurrections, for sure.
"Hey mate, you goin’ to the snack bar in the half-time? Bring me two Smokis, kthx"
In the beginning of the third quarter we continued our march. We kept it quite well until the middle of the part (43:37), when Budućnost slowly started to reduce the difference. One and a half minute before the end they equalized (43:43). Luković took back the lead (45:43). They equalized again (45:45). 18 seconds were left, we got a free throw. Robinson brought us a little advantage, enough of a small breath. (46:45).
Then Budućnost took the lead (48:49). Cold shower. Players were wrestling on the court, making a long row of missed-out attempts and free throws, both sides. Nightmare. The guests were leading to 49:56, barely 4 minutes were left from the game. Struggling. We jump to 54:56. Hatcher equalizes for us (56:56).
Less than two and a half minutes are left. Budućnost takes back the lead (56:58). Robinson scores a fantastic 3-pointer (59:58).
One minute and 15 seconds are left. It’s unbelievable. Budućnost also scores a 3-pointer. They even get a bonus shot. They’re leading again... (61:62). Great struggling and fight on the court.
55 seconds are left. Players are fighting with each other. The referee gives the ball to Budućnost. Their coach asks for time-out. The whole sports hall is on their feet. The teams come back on the court. We get the ball, we run up for an attack. Marinković shots from 3-pointer position... and misses it out.
7 seconds are left. Free throw for Budućnost.
Williams scores both. 61:64. Aleksandar Džikić asks for time-out.
It’s all in vain. We run back to the court, Veličković tries an attempt... and misses it out.
The end.
Well, this was nasty.
We played poorly, we struggled and even referees didn’t like us.
All seemed to be fine in the beginning though. We were leading to 2:7, but Budućnost equalized (9:9). Then came a long silence.
The entire game was about this kind of long, heavy and silent battles. None of the teams could score, the ball kept on rebounding from the ring as if it was scared of that.
Barely 2 minutes were left from the first half, when Vitkovac finally threw a basket (9:11). The problem was that it woke up the Podgorica-based team (12:11). Never mind, we had Kevin Jones (12:13), while Budućnost had a free throw (14:13). At this point referees were already fed up with Vitkovac, apparently, he was fouled twice within a short time. Budućnost scored one more, the first quarter ended with 16:13.
In the second quarter we took back the lead (16:17), but it didn’t last long (21:17). The stream was dying slowly and painfully, meanwhile Partizan was struggling. From this point on Budućnost kept the game under their control. We couldn’t even equalize, not even once, we could maybe just approach them with 1-2 points (26:24).
We kept the 8-point difference (32:24), we even tried to reduce it. Marinković threw a 3-pointer (34:29), so did Budućnost, what is more, they even got a bonus shot (38:29). We again reduced the difference a bit with Murić’s 3-pointer, that was the result of the half-time as well.

In the third quarter we continued to struggle. For the middle of the quarter we reduced the difference from 42:34 to 42:39, but at this point referees started to shower Budućnost with free throws. The home team gained a 10-point difference (53:43), yet Partizan got their first ever free throw some time around the second part of the third quarter. It was Aranitović, who could score from that, he did so (53:45). As for Budućnost, when they happened not to score from free throw, they did it from 3-pointers. We had absolutely no antidote against them... They overstepped the 10-point difference (58:47), but still at the end of the quarter Jones demonstrated what a real buzzer beater looks like.
The last quarter was a misery. Vitkovac scored from free throw at the beginning (60:54), but for quite a long time we were totally out of order.
I don’t remember when it was the last time we had so many rebounds.
Budućnost jumped to 66:54. Even Đumić’s free throw and Murić’s scores were enough to keep us to 69:60, but here the home team made a 9-point series (78:60). We could score two more baskets (one of them was a 3-pointer by Murić), but they didn’t help us at all.
Victory!!!
What a victory, oh my God. We won over the opponent with a fantastic, exciting, screaming-nailbiting, going-into-the-heaven-at-the-end match.
The game started with a very nice gesture. A few weeks ago, after the game against Krka a photo circulated around the internet about a little boy, who was sitting at his chair crying, being devastated by the unjust defeat.

KK Partizan found the little boy and invited him to their training. He even got his very own jersey and he became the 13th member of the team.

Being the 13th member of the team he walked out to the court together with the team before the start of the game. As a serious, regular player must do.

Then we walked out to the court, Cvetković came, saw and scored (2:0). After Budućnost’s equalizing Jones quickly changed the standing to 6:2. The only problem was that Budućnost took the lead (6:7). And as trouble never comes alone, Andrić got injured again, only 1-2 minutes after the start, even though he has just recovered from his previous one. He limped off the court and couldn’t join back the game.
So far there are almost no news about Andrić’s injury and most probably there’ll be none before Monday. After the match head coach Petar Božić just said, they very much hope it’s not more than a pulled muscle.
The standing became 6:10 in the meantime. The opponent had a Canadian player, namely Devoe Joseph, who kept on scoring 3-pointers. He was awful and unstoppable. They made it to 10:18. Aranitović reduced the difference to 15:18, but it quickly changed to 15:23. Anđušić brought a 3-pointer (18:23), so did the other side (18:26). Meanwhile referees put themselves into action. At 20:28 they invalidated Vitkovac’s basket, for God knows which reason, the slow motion replay didn’t show any foul. Fans booed, whistled, Average Fan just had a bitter sigh and started to fall into depression. We finished the first quarter with 22:30, Anđušić scored a basket soon before the end.

The second quarter didn’t start easily either. The difference became two-digit (22:32). Vrabac tried to reduce it (24:32) and at this point something started to get into motion. Jones caught Marinković’s rebound and smashed it into the basket (26:32). Marinković scored a giga-sized 3-pointer, throwing it probably from the neighbourly Charlie Chaplin street (29:32). Then Marinković suddenly fell on the ground, after clashing an opponent player. Free throw, Anđušić stood to the paint, and the difference became only 1 point (31:32). Budućnost tried with all their might to keep their advantage (31:34), but we kept the pace either by Vrabac’s basket (33:34) or by Perović’s score (35:36). At 35:38 referees gave a random free throw to the guests, because why not (35:40), so did they after Đumić’s basket, because they were in the mood, probably (37:41). But Đumić still kept the log (and the steam roller) rolling (39:41), then Aranitović sped up and equalized (41:41).
And after this we took back the lead with Marinković’s core. 43:41, bre!!

And just 2 seconds before the half time buzz the referee whistled a foul on Vrabac and gave a gift free throw to Budućnost.
We finished the first half with 43:42, Budućnost’s player missed out one free throw, the referees’ attempt to equalize had failed.

The third part started with Anđušić’s amazing steal and brutal basket (45:42). Then Budućnost attacked and all we could see was Anđušić suddenly falling to the ground. The slow motion replay clearly showed Budućnost’s player pushing Anđušić down on purpose.
Can you guess what the referee judged?
Yes, you found it out.
Fail on Anđušić. Don’t ever ask why.

What is more, the guests took back the lead. 45:46, it’s just impossible. I started to search for a spade to dig my own grave.
But here came Vitkovac, he scored and took us back the lead (47:46). What is more, the difference grew to 49:46.
I couldn’t see who scored this latter basket, my net died for a short while. (Me, too.)
And it could have been even 51:46, but the corrupted referees invalidated Jones’s basket, because they could do it.
May all the biased referees of Adriatic League get diarrhea at a public place.
Eventually we got a free throw, Cvetković scored (51:46, at long last), but referees continued to run amok. They seemed to hate a couple of Partizan-players... Then an opponent player pushed Vitkovac to the ground while attacking. Referees didn’t whistle, but a bit later they still gave foul to Aranitović, nobody knows, why.

At this point something was thrown to the court. No, unfortunately it didn’t hit the referee.
But Aranitović isn’t that kind of player who can get discouraged by a foul. He raised our difference to 53:48 from free throw, then he threw a 3-pointer as well (56:48). At 56:52 Marinković shot and scored (58:52). Jones kept our 4-point difference (60:56), Marinković also helped (62:58), at the end of the quarter the Jones-Anđušić axis made it to 68:61.
We were ready for the last quarter.
Budućnost reduced the difference to 68:64. After that referees fouled out Đumić. The guests equalized (68:68). Marinković took back the lead from free throw (70:68), the opponent equalized again (70:70).
Volatile salt, defibrillator, grave digger, priest, last sacrament to me, NOW...
...and then came the Jones-Cvetković duo.
It was amazing what these two made in the last minutes.
From 72:70 we made it to 84:72!!!
Budućnost tried to reduce the difference (84:75), but Jones scored again (86:75). For the end there were two opponent free throws left, they settled the end result with them (86:77), also Jones deserves the "Rebound King" title.
Where should I start it?...
I have seen brutal games. I have seen debil audience, raging fans, idiotic, corrupted referees, primitive players. I have seen fans clashing, I have seen and heard more than often when an entire tribune swears at the opponent team, the referee or the fans of the other side.
But I have never seen anything like this in Podgorica.
I may even admit, Budućnost-fans surpassed even red fans. Though they are definitely a hardcore group.
Not to mention the referees... It’s one thing that whenever they whistled, it was for Budućnost, but they didn’t even lift a hand to do something against fan violence.
Just a reminder: you know, dear referees, there is that thing called public address system. You know, that thing when a guy speaks into the microphone and the entire hall can hear it. You could have simply gone to that guy and ask him to say it into the mic something like "pleasekeepsupportingyourteaminthespiritoffairplaythankyou". What is more, you could have even paused the game. Just sayin’.
The first quarter was a struggle. Nothing wanted to work. It was 7:2, our first basket came after 3 minutes (by Dragan Milosavljević). Then it was 12:4. This was the point when Josh Akognon tried to bring the spirit back to the team and scored two 3-pointers. The difference was reduced to two points (12:10). Pavlović was also unwilling to just give up (13:12), despite being fouled twice.
Then came Murić with a giant 3-pointer. 13:15, the standing switched to our side.
It brought the steam roller out of Milosavljević and his Captain powers, he increased the difference to 17:22. The Titograd Podgorica-based team was struggling with mistakes, missed-out chances and free throws. In the meantime Partizan slowly but surely took control of the game. The result of the quarter was 17:24, Murić scored soon before the end.
In the second quarter we continued with our great series, like e.g. this:
The second quarter brought out our best. We were on the lead for the whole time always with just a few points, demonstrating that we were still better than them. Then this happened at 38:43.
Everyone could see live Dragan Milosavljević being hit by someone. And everyone could see referees doing nothing, absolutely nothing. This is the most revolting of it all that these three corrupted rats didn’t even raise their eyebrows on such obvious injustices. Neither them, nor the officials of ABA Liga being present.
Just a side note: the audience yelled the most disgusting words to Saša Pavlović and Duško Vujošević. For Pavlović the most moderate was "traitor". So far no news source mentioned ABA Liga to come up with any sanction against Budućnost for this unfair attitude of fans - neither for this case, nor for the rest that were yet to come.
At the end of the quarter the standing was 43:44 (that was also the half-time result) hell broke loose. The terrified Average Fan could see only that members of the two teams literally clash in a fight, hitting each other.
Budućnost’s two players, Cook and Paunić started to hit Murić and Pavlović. The reasons are still unknown, but for sure they didn’t reach our players to be best friends forever. Nevertheless referees chose the most effective (LOL) solution in the beginning of the third quarter.
They put technical foul on both Murić and Pavlović.
(Some say Cook and Paunić also got technical, but you know, seeing is believing, and I didn’t see anything.)
Somehow Partizan’s pace slowed down after this incident. Budućnost equalized (46:46), they even took the lead (49:48), then something happened again.

Dragan Milosavljević’s forehead was wounded, blood ran down on the Captain’s face. He got a bandage on it and came back to the court with wrapped head.
A hero.
We tried to keep the pace in the openly hostile surroundings. We did things like this.

Tepa is a good boy, he helps wherever he can.
For a short while we took back the lead (62:66), then Budućnost equalized from free throw (66:66), but despite all we ended the quarter with 66:69.
We kept this pace even in the beginning of the last quarter. It wasn’t easy, our 3-pointers didn’t want to fall into the ring at all. Milosavljević was fouled out, Budućnost put us under great pressure, and for the end they switched the standing to their side (72:71). But then came Saša Pavlović.
But his 3-pointer he threw after this one was not validated, it was booked only as a simple basket. (72:76) Oh, well... We were still on the lead, Akognon also scored a 3-pointer (72:79), because it is always better to be safe than sorry. Average Fan started to hear happily chirping birds (with mental ears), when Saša Pavlović was fouled out. And from that point on referees did everything to make Budućnost the winner of this game.
They did everything before as well, but from this point on they didn’t even try to cover it.
The Podgorica team equalized (79:79), with an extra gift bonus throw (80:79). Meanwhile Mačvan fell on the court after someone pushed him. He hit his head into the parquette so heavily that he could leave the ground only with help. No, referees still didn’t whistle. The tribune was on fire, referees at this point wanted to just go home most probably, but before leaving they had to go to the cashier for their payment. They worked hard for the money indeed.
Here is a video which was titled "thriller ending" by ABA Liga, they couldn’t make it any more cynical... The proper title would have been "scandal".
There are highlights, too.
Budućnost has given out an official statement, where they apologize to Duško Vujošević. Only to him, but not to Saša Pavlović, Edo Murić or Dragan Milosavljević.
Nice job, idiots. I hope, ABA League will pat your stupid heads for this.
Partizan nevertheless made it to the Final Four together with Crvena Zvezda, Budućnost and Cedevita. Our first match will be - heavenily happiness - against the red team. Dates come later, now Partizan joins the Serbian national basketball league, where they play against Konstantin on Saturday.
First, I don’t even remember when I saw last time a match that was cheated in such a shameless way by the referees. Second, and this one is even worse, this defeat means that we have 6 (six) matches won and 7, that are lost. We have 19 points altogether. 4 other teams have the same amount of points, but Krka is still ahead of us with better statistics. So, whether we like it or not, we are on the 7th place of Adriatic League’s table. This is a catastrophe, especially that Zvezda is laughing at us from the first place. It means, we have to pick ourselves together very much if we want to have our piece from the cake.
There was this heart-warming scene though. Duško Vujošević was watching the match from the tribune (he is still banned from the bench) and there he met the forever Miša Tumbas.

The rest was much less touching. The atmosphere was heated even in the first quarter. At 2:5 wrestling started on the floor, the referees were mostly just watching it with great interest. Then they gave a free throw to Podgorica. At 2:9 Tepić threw a basket from a fantastic turnover (4:9). Almost all actions by Partizan were amazing and spectacular. Pavlović threw a great one (6:13), then came a Milosavljević-Mačvan teamwork (8:15). With great focus and teamwork we made it to 16:17, then, no joke, there was less than 1 second left from the quarter when the referees gave a free throw to Budućnost. 16:19. Thanks. Really.
In the second quarter we could keep the pace until 19:21 - Tepić had a huge run, dribbling himself through the opponent, throwing a giant basket. He was the heart and soul of the team, he was running during the entire match, setting up attacks, throwing baskets, so now you stand up and salute for him.

Then the Montenegrin team made a 9-point series and the difference was more than 10 points (19:30). Milutinov tried to reduce it, but the difference was soon 15 points (20:35). Milutinov and Mačvan reduced it to 24:35, but at this point Pavlović was knocked out. (As if his upper lip got swollen as well...) The referees sighed and gave a free throw to Partizan for this K.O. (26:37), and then quickly another one for Budućnost, for just the sake of it. (26:39) This was the result of the half-time. Budućnost is a very quick, very aggressive team, especially with 3 extra players. (The referees. They could have come out of the locker room wearing these blue jerseys, after all.)

The third quarter was not better at all. We struggled, the difference got bigger and bigger. Tepić had a great moment (34:45), while Pavlović got a foul, nobody knows why.
The last quarter was started with 40:47, we fought hard to keep the less-than-10-points difference. When the referees didn’t interfere, we could keep it. Then after 3 and a half minutes Milutinov was fouled out. Andrić made a 3-pointer (49:54). Then Reynolds played his great act as "The Dying Mother Queen", after NOT clashing with Pavlović, but the referees still whistled a technical foul on Partizan’s player (49:59). At 51:63 Andrić brought another 3-pointer to make it less than 10 points, but at that point suddenly Milosavljević was also fouled out. SportKlub’s slow motion replay clearly shows there was NO foul at all.
Facepalm... That’s all you can do.
Hell broke loose, everyone was yelling with the other, then during the last few moments the Montenegrin team made a 6-point series (56:59). Planinović was also fouled out, but nobody actually cared. Mačvan and Tepić scored some points, then the nightmare finally ended.
