Transfer news

The most recent news from the football transfer season is that Partizan’s goalkeeper, Milan Lukač has signed to Turkish 2nd league team Adana Demirspor, just a few days before the CL-qualifying. He has already left the team’s training camp and will not take part at the qualifying game.
What is more, some rumours speak about Ivan Bandalovski also planning to leave Partizan. Head coach Zoran Milinković talked about it, but he didn’t say too much. He didn’t confirm, nor did he deny the news. He just said, if Bandalovski gets a good offer, he is free to leave.

Novi Pazar - FK Partizan 1:1 (Jelen SuperLiga, Round 14)

The match started with a row of bad omens. First, Partizan fans were not allowed to go to Novi Pazar. They were told, considering the tragedy in Istanbul as well as the Muslim minority living in Novi Pazar having close relationship with Turkey, the police would not take responsibility for any atrocities among fans. (Aka: impotent armed forces paid from state tax can not take proper care of their own citizens. Who should be kicked in the head for this?...)
Then Milan Lukač’s possible absence also came up. The goalkeeper had been suffering from stomach problems, he confirmed he would play the match only during the pre-match warm-up.
It was also raining heavily. The soil of the playing ground looked like something from a horror movie, as if a big group of wild boors would have been rooting there. Someone somewhere had this witty comment that the field would be perfect for growing potatoes, but was absolutely inappropriate for playing football.
So, Partizan ran out from the locker-room, to see 6000 raging Novi Pazar fans on the tribunes. Locals immediately covered them with all the little signs of their love. Paper bands were flying towards the team, covering a part of the field. Paper aeroplanes were thrown to Partizan's bench (as well as other things, more about them later), so, all in all, it is definitely a very hospitable place.
In the 2nd minute Saša Ilić made a big pass from the right side, pity it was missed.
Then, two minutes later it wasn’t.
Živković kicked the match’s first corner. The goalkeeper put himself into the shorter corner, while Lazović was waiting in the long one. The ball came and he headed it precisely into the middle of the net. 0:1

Novi Pazar players picked themselves together, it would have been tough to be beaten in front of their own audience (with nobody there from Belgrade). In the 6th minute Oliveira tricked himself through Partizan’s defense line, but thankfully Lukač was at his place. Three minutes later they tried again, but Marković threw himself into the way. A bit later the ball got on corner. It caused an upheaval in Partizan’s penalty area, finally Oliveira made a too wide shot.
Then someone threw a firecracker on Marko Nikolić’s head.
While referee Glođović felt offended that Partizan’s trainer suggested him to pause the game. The game was still on pause for 3 minutes, mostly because Marko Nikolić and the referee had an argument with strong gesticulations. In the meantime fans threw heaps of paperbands on the field. Finally the match could continue with a Partizan free kick. Živković was trying, the ball got on corner.
The 16th minute brought a screaming-fainting-hand trembling-heart attack situation. It was Oliveira again, getting the ball from the right, he sent the shot wide above the crossbar from the 5-metre line.

It says all about the quality of the playing field that Novi Pazar goalkeeper Zečević wanted to make a goal kick. He ran up, kicked, slid and fell into the mud.

In the 19th minute Novi Pazar tried to scare Lukač with a distant shot, our goalkeeper in return immediately sent the ball for a counter-attack. Živković missed it.

Živković played in a great form

In the 24th minute it was Živković again. He gave a huge pass to Škuletić from the right. Novi Pazar’s defender fell into the mud, Partizan’s striker shot too high from the goalmouth.
The atmosphere was heated not just on the tribunes but also on the field, no wonder it got harder and harder for referee Glođović to keep it under control. The playing field’s quality made it worse, players kept on sliding, falling, losing the ball. (In exchange we could see amazing gymnastics excersises - splits or even split jumps - that made all jaws drop on the floor.)

In the 30th minute Partizan got a free kick. It was near the sideline, at the level of the 5-meter line. Živković kicked it in the middle, defenders headed it back to Petrović. Petrović shot, the defense line pushed it to corner. Then after another corner again Petrović got the ball and shot again. The ball was dropping in the mud, the goalkeeper desperately threw himself on it.
After 7 minutes of mud-wrestling Jevtović made a sudden, distant shot to Partizan’s goal. Lukač saved. At this point everyone was so dirty it was hard to make any difference between the two teams; Novi Pazar’s light blue jersey was grey from dirt, Partizan was playing by default in the grey away shirt. (Many kisses from here to the person who picked this grey jersey for the Novi Pazar game.) Or, when in the 43rd minute Saša Ilić had a huge rush for the ball, but slid. Or in the last minute of the first half, when Oliveira ran up to Partizan’s goal area, but whoosh, he slid. Never mind, we could make an immediate counter-attack, Lazović is already in front of Novi Pazar’s goalmouth... and bang, slid and fell.

In the beginning of the second half Novi Pazar fans made a fantastic demonstration with colourful smoke bombs and a huge, white-blue banner that covered the entire tribune. Erm... guys, is it maybe possible to do this every time? You were amazing, fantastic. Let's forget that firecracker and paper band throwing adventure, shall we?...

In the 49th minute Lazović had a great run and passed the ball to Živković in front of Novi Pazar’s goal line. The midfielder sent a bomber shot, just the goalkeeper was in the way.
Novi Pazar started to play it hard and led a row of attacks to Partizan’s goal line, but all of them dropped off by Partizan defense. Then in the 61st minute Škuletić ran up to the home team’s goal area, but he was tackled. Not much later Lazović rushed up and passed the ball to Živković. He gave it to Škuletić, but he slid. A minute later he tried again with a distant shot. Someone touched the ball, corner.

In the 67th minute Oliveira sent a distant shot to Partizan’s goal, but it was too wide. A minute later Škuletić was again in the spotlight. The striker came up on the left side and passed it to the middle, but nobody was there to kick it to the net. It was still enough for a counter-attack by Novi Pazar, Oliveira’s shot flew out near the goalpost.
In the 72nd minute Volkov would have headed a giant goal. Actually he did, but the referee disagreed, saying it was offside. ArenaSport replayed it about a million times in slow motion, but still nobody could see it clearly what actually happened. Meanwhile Marko Nikolić got into an argument with the referee again. Glođović’s blood pressure reached the skies and sent Partizan’s trainer off with a red card. (In the meantime Partizan’s bench was covered with garbage thrown there by fans.)
In the 78th minute Novi Pazar equalized. After a long wrestling Kecap got the ball and passed it to the middle. Oliveira grabbed it among defenders sliding all over in the mud and shot it into the net. 1:1 (ArenaSport’s commentator thought it was actually Branko Ilić’s own goal, but it is only his opinion.)
In the 83rd minute Novi Pazar tried again, Mijić barely missed from a sudden, distant shot. In the 90th minute Tintor kicked Grbić off roughly. He already had a yellow card, the referee sent him off.
There was a 5-minute-long extra time, but that was only about mud-wrestling.

Tottenham Hotspur - FK Partizan 1:0 (UEFA Europa League)

We knew we had no chance to qualify for the next round of Europa League even before travelling to England, so the team arrived with no pressure on them. Therefore we played a great game. Our line-up was 4-3-3, Grbić was in the front line on the right side, Škuletić found himself in the middle.

Yet the first 5 minutes brought three (3) dangerous Tottenham chances. The first came in the 2nd minute, for our luck Soldado missed it. A minute later our defenders cleaned, then in the 5th minute Naughton had a too wide shot.

RTS’s speaker repeatedly called Tottenham's defender Vlad Chiriches "Hungarian". He even made it sure the great defender is the member of the Hungarian national team. Well, it's true, my miserable homeland's national team needs such class defenders as one needs water in the desert, but I doubt our brave neighbours in the East would get a laughing fit (including Chiriches) if they got to know such a "charge" was brought against their player. Don't take me wrong: all my respect goes to Romania and Romanian football, in the spirit of peaceful coexistence.

We had a short time meanwhile to find our breath, while a handful of Partizan fans made their voice heard (they were louder than the locals). In the 8th minute Tottenham attacked again, Ćirković headed the ball to corner.
In the 10th minute Grbić got the ball and ran up in the right side. He passed it to Škuletić, who missed it by being just one step behind... Two minutes later again Tottenham banged the door at Lukač’s home. Thankfully they were not allowed to enter. Then in the 15th minute again Grbić ran up, passed again to Škuletić, but this time defenders cleared the area.
In the 18th minute we got a free kick. The ball flew up and almost left the field through the base line, but Branko Ilić saved it.

He passed it back to the penalty area line, where Lazović has been waiting. He finally missed the chance.
In the 21st minute all we could see was someone kicking Ninković to the ground, then in the next moment Tottenham was in front of our goal line. Lamela kicked the ball into the middle, most probably to Soldado, but everyone was behind 1-2-3 steps, all Tottenham and Partizan players. (That was our luck, because if Soldado had been at his place, the result would have been 1:0 at this point.)
Then a fan ran into the field, all of a sudden. It was a big black man, one of the locals. He ran around the field, had a big grin on his face, made selfies with the players, playing hide-and-seek with security guards, who finally successfully push him off the grass.

Naughton is not impressed

Amazing. Okay, next. Ninković got the ball. Džigi ran up, slalomed himself through Tottenham’s half and made a huge kick to the goal from about 18 metres. Pity that Llorente was at his place.

Tottenham immediately started a counter-attack, Ćirković cleared again to corner.
In the 26th minute another fan ran into the field. He was also just running around, though he made no selfies. He still freaked Soldado out so much, that the Spanish forward grabbed the guy and pulled his shirt off. (He made no trouble about it, just continued to run around shirtless. Security guards pushed him off the grass, too.)

In the 28th minute again Škuletić had a great chance. He got the ball from Lazović, but Llorente saved.

At this point Tottenham was less in control of the game than earlier. Partizan broke out of the "bunker". In the 38th minute the home team was wandering around Partizan’s penalty area. Finally Stambouli sent a 20-metre shot to the goal line, Lukač had a great save. We immediately started a counter-attack, Ninković ran up and kicked a marvellous, 40-metre bomber. Llorente saved.
Then a third fan ran into the field.
The Ukrainian referee got fed up and sent the whole branch back to the locker-room, while security personnel threw themselves onto the funny guy and literally carried him off the grass. About 10 minutes later the game continued.

As I later got to know, these three self-appointed pranksters were paid for this trolling. They were all wearing similar shirts with the logo of a company that makes earphones. They even uploaded a video to Youtube about their adventure.

In the 45+8th minute Partizan got a corner. It made a big upheaval inside Tottenham's penalty area, finally it resulted a goal kick, meanwhile it seemed as Chiriches pulled Škuletić to the ground. Two minutes later Lazović had a shot flying above the goalpost, then in the last minute Lamela had a try, but Lukač saved.
At the beginning of the second half Tottenham got the lead. They were running up wild towards Partizan’s penalty area. First Soldado made a shot, but Lukač saved with a great movement. The ball dropped back to the penalty area. Stambouli grabbed it and kicked it into the empty net. 1:0

Two minutes later they ran up again on Partizan’s half. This time Stanković blocked their try, but Tottenham still owned the ball. Finally Lukač caught it and we could go for a counter-attack. Lazović got up to the home team’s penalty area, he even made a shot but missed.

In the 55th minute there were two dangerous scenes in front of Partizan’s goal line. Soldado made a shot (I don’t say it was not offside...), Lukač saved. The second attack came almost immediately. Volkov cleared it, kicking the ball out from almost the goal line, standing behind Partizan’s goalkeeper, who was lying on the ground. Three minutes later again Tottenham had a chance, Lamela made a distant shot, barely missed.

In the 68th minute once again Tottenham attacked. Again Lamela made a shot, it flew out above the goalpost. Immediate Partizan counter-attack, Grbić ran up almost to the base line and passed it to Živković. The midfielder shot, but the ball flew out near the goalpost.
In the 72nd minute Tottenham got a free kick, approx. 20 metres from our goal line. Lukač had a huge save, pushing the ball to corner. The incoming kick hit a player, Partizan’s goalkeeper saved again with a marvellous movement. Three minutes later we made a counter-attack (followed by Lukač running out for a shot with great pace). Grbić had the ball, running up and kicked, but missed.
In the 83rd minute it was almost 2:0, but the home player was on offside. Two minutes later we got a free kick. Volkov raised up to head the ball into Tottenham’s net. Lloris had a great save, Živković arrived out of the blue, but shot the ball on the side net.
In the 88th minute Tottenham missed a huge chance. (Average Fan didn’t really mind it.) Lukač ran out and saved Stambouli’s attack. The ball dropped right in front of Lamela, all doors and windows were open, but the Argentinian midfielder missed it.

Partizan bench

It was the very end, the 90+1st minute. Tottenham attacked again, making a huge upheaval inside Partizan’s penalty area. One of our defenders (I’m not sure if it was Volkov, Ćirković or someone else) tackled the attacker, who fell on the ground. Some complained for penalty, but the referee said no - the slow motion replay confirmed the referee’s decision. After all these Lukač performed one of the savings of his career, when Lamela sent the ball again to the goal. (Many thanks to Tottenham’s Argentinian player to give so many chances for Lukač to be able to show his class.)

Besiktas - FK Partizan 2:1 (UEFA Europa League)

In the first minute we wanted to throw in the usual "hey, goalkeeper, whazzup"-trick, but the assistant was waving offside. Then the game (I mean, wrestling) was going on mostly in the midfield, when in the 8th minute Besiktas had a try. Özyakup had a very weak shot, the ball flew out of the field. Two minutes later Demba Ba sent another weak, flat shot to Lukač.

But at least they tried, we couldn’t even make it to the opponent’s penalty area.

In the 12th minute Besiktas again came, saw and Lukač saved. And that’s how it was going on. Töre had two goal shots within 2 minutes, the first was rather dangerous. Lukač had a great save, pushing the ball to corner. The second was too high, the shot flew out, far above the goalpost.
We could get to Besiktas’s goal line in the 19th minute (until then goalkeeper Gönen could have a little nap...), even made our first corner kick of the match. Gönen woke up, caught the ball, the show had to go on.
Two minutes later our defense line made such a mistake that Average Fan's hair visibly started to turn into grey. Luckily we didn't get into big trouble, Lukač - when will he get a statue?... - arrived in excellent pace and caught the ball. Turks attacked again in the 22nd minute, Köybasi passed the ball into the middle. It seemed as if Demba Ba fell on the ground, but Kavlak grabbed the ball. It ended with a corner.

We were trying, too. Seriously. But it was impossible to get to their goal line, their defense line blocked everything.

The home team got a free kick in the 28th minute, about 22 metres from Partizan's goal line. The shot hit someone and the ball rolled into the net horribly slowly. Lukač desperately tried to catch it, but he couldn’t. For our luck the assistant was waving offside way before the ball crossed the goal line, the referee annulled the score.

Match action: Danilo Pantić with the ball

Besiktas made another dangerous pass into the middle in the 29th minute. Again for our luck, Töre was fumbling too much and the ball rolled out of the playing area. A minute later Sahan made a kick, but it was too high. The home team was attacking continuously, another pass arrived from the left in the 33rd minute, but the ball dropped to the other side of the penalty area. Töre tried again in the 37th minute with a distant, weak, imprecise shot.

Don't take me wrong, I don't mind, on the contrary, I'm very glad Töre made such imprecise shots to Partizan's goal. May God keep this nice habit of his.

Volkov needed medical attendance in the 41st minute, the audience shouted "ollé" every time the home team touched the ball. There was some dangerous upheaval in the very last minutes, Lukač caught a distant shot before it would have reached Ba, then the referee made an end to this terribly monotonous first half.
Nor did the second bring any spectacular football. In the 48th minute again an upheaval grew in fronto of Partizan's goal line, thankfully defenders cleared the area.
Two minutes later Grbić had a chance

that was Partizan’s first real chance

he got the ball from the left, but missed it. Another two minutes later Partizan again made some uncomfortable moments inside Besiktas's penalty area. A shot arrived from the right side, but the ball reached the sky instead of the net.
In the 56th minute Besiktas got a penalty kick. Stanković was wrestling with a Turkish player inside Partizan’s penalty area, when the opponent fell on the ground and the referee immediately whistled penalty. Demba Ba stood behind the ball. He ran up, suddenly made a movement as if he wanted to stop, then made a full swing and shot the ball into the right lower corner of the net next to Lukač falling left. 1:0
Two minutes later Karlak wanted to see his name on the goal scoarers’ list, but he kicked the ball right into Lukač’s lap.

Approx. 300 Partizan-fans cheered for the team in Istanbul

Partizan got a free kick in the 59th minute, about 20 metres from Besiktas’s goal line. The shot hit the defense line, the home team immediately turned it into a counter-attack. It was such a counter-attack that Besiktas was leading with 2 goals in the 61st minute... Töre was rushing up in Partizan's half all alone, almost all defenders were left behind, only one of them was standing desperate somewhere at the penalty point. Töre passed it to Demba Ba, who easily scored. 2:0
The next 15 minutes was bothered only with a Partizan free kick, but even that was blocked by Besiktas-defenders. Then in the 77th minute Ninković was dribbling at the left side of the Turkish penalty area. He passed the ball to Saša Ilić, who gave it to the other Saša, namely Marković, who didn’t want to waste any chance. He made a powerful shot from about 18 metres.
And scored.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!!! 2:1

Ninković dribbling

We got another free kick in the 88th minute. Drinčić shot it into the middle, Volkov rose up from the masses - and headed it too high.
The last minutes had some extra excitement left. We got another free kick in the 90+4th minute. The goalkeeper saved Drinčić’s bomb shot with a huge movement. The ball dropped to Lazović, he grabbed it, but made a too high shot.
